The photographer behind Canines of Character is Allira Fontana, who can usually be found capturing images of dog all over Sydney. Her business was founded in 2013 when she began traveling the East Coast of Australia photographing horse shows and events. But once she began volunteering with shelter dogs in May 2015, Allira felt she found her true calling.
It is through her volunteer work that she met her rescue dog Archie. Archie was found as a stray in January 2016, and although microchipped he was never picked up. Allira wasn’t looking for a dog to adopt at the time of Archie’s photo session, but he never left her mind. After a few weeks of being impounded, Archie was still not adopted. But on the 27th of January 2016 Allira decided Archie was the one for her.
During his impound time, Archie had developed a few behavioural issues. After months of training, behavioural sessions and, of course, love, Archie became the beautiful boy he was always meant to be.
